Partnership working provides independent living to over 55s

FHM firmly believes in developing long term partnerships.

Providing a new way of living for older people in the North East is the focus of a partnership between FHM and Housing 21 - a major national provider of housing, care and support services for older people.

The partnership is committed to building homes with a difference - creating extra-care retirement developments around the region that provide safe, secure and versatile housing for older people who still want to live life to the full.

Together FHM and Housing 21 will work with local authorities on 11 extra care developments throughout the region.

The schemes are partly funded by a grant from the Government's housing body, the Housing Corporation. The units will be available for sale, rent and shared ownership.

The 11 schemes around the region total more than £60 million and have resulted in the creation of more than 40 jobs.
