Frank Haslam Milan North East Sustainability

FHM North East is part of the Keepmoat Group, a community regeneration specialist. Within the last year, the group together with its subsidiaries have completed more than 50,000 refurbishments - that's 1 home every 10 minutes, to improve the quality of life for more than 150,000 people nationwide.

Our wish is to work with our customers to make sustainability considerations mainstream and internally we have made great strides to develop the skills and partnerships to make us effective in this area. For example we;

  • were amongst the first organisations to reach the ISO14001 environmental standard.
  • have committed to send zero waste to landfill by 2012
  • sponsored the 24 Housing National Retrofit competition
  • are gold leaf members of the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC)
  • invested in energy assessment training for our staff
  • are active participants in the Next Generation national sustainability benchmark of the top 25 private house builders.
  • were one of the founding partners of the Great British Refurb
  • are currently sponsoring the Sunderland Echo's eco campaign.
  • have been chosen to deliver a national retrofit exemplar project and are involved in judging national Technology Strategy Board competition winners.

To further demonstrate our long-term commitment we have recruited specialised staff to help take away some of the pain and confusion linked to this important agenda and have introduced a new focused Sustainability Policy supported by a comprehensive set of Key Performance Indicators and targets.
